Cycle Club for years 5 & 6 starts on Monday 12th November for 5 weeks. To book a place please complete the forms coming home on 2nd November as soon as possible as there are only 30 places. Bikes and helmets will be provided.
You will have noticed that we have a new fence backing onto the park. This was the result of safety concerns and consultations with both pupils and parents. We need your help to develop future policies and actions. On Friday 9th November 9.15 - 10.15am, Mr Watson and Katy Spencer are holding a drop in meeting which will focus on sports provision in school, school's behaviour policy and ideas for adult education parental courses. Parent consultations will take place during the week starting Monday 5th November. We would like parents to take some time to talk to their children about their talents, likes and dislikes, to briefly share with the teachers at the meetings. Mrs Kate Holden-Sim, our new SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) will be available in the hall during the Parent Consultation meetings. Please come and meet her for a chat or to make an appointment to discuss your child's needs.
From next week we will be providing an extra 1/2 hours sports for pupils in years 3 to 6. This will be on the same day that they do PPA and will be outdoors. If the trial works we will extend this to KS1.
Family Choir meeting this Sunday at 4.30pm in the Gym. All welcome and no singing skills required.
We are selling poppies in the Office - if you would like to buy one please come at anytime.
There are some egg cups that were made at the summer fair awaiting collection at the office.
There will be taster sessions of Adult Education Courses in school on Monday 5th November at 9.00am. The Adult Education Centre next door want to find out what types of courses our parents require and at what times.During this free taster session you will be able to speak to tutors about your needs. The meeting will take place in the upstairs ICT Suite and a creche will be provided. To ensure that we have prepared for this event, please contact Mr Watson if you want more information. Adult Education workers will be available to give free impartial advice from 8.45 to 9.30am in the Infant Hall on the same day. Please drop in to see Janet and Phil if you have any questions.
There will be a stall in the Dining Room from Monday12th to Thursday 15th November, to raise awareness of the schools responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act. During this time you will be able to watch short video clips, read leaflets about the act and talk to some of our governors about this important legislation. There will also be a special newsletter and links from our school website to raise awareness amongst parents and carers. For those parents who would like to find out more about this important area please go to www.diseed.org.uk. This will be followed by a consultation period from 16th to 23rd November when further information will be available.
Greater Manchester Police have given us a number of Bike locks for children at this school. If there are children who would like to cycle to school and don't have an adequate lock, please call in to the office to collect one of these heavy duty locks. They will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
The school disco will be held on Thursday 22nd November. Nursery - Y2 will be from 3.45 to 5.00 and Y3 to Y6 from 5.30 to 6.45pm. Refreshments will be available on the night including hot dogs, sandwiches, fresh fruit, cakes and other disco delights.
